12/1 Public Information Meeting on Brownfield Regulations, Buffalo, 10 am - noon & 1:30-4:30 pm
The DEC, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), is conducting seven meetings to present the brownfield draft regulation and address questions prior to the required public hearings. Meetings will be structured to present the four subparts of the regulation in a morning session by Department staff, followed by an afternoon presentation about the development of the soil cleanup objectives (SCOs) by NYSDOH and Department staff involved in their development. Both sessions will provide time for questions and answers about the draft regulation and SCOs. The first session will be held at Adam's Mark Hotel, 120 Church Street, Buffalo, NY. 12/10 Taking Back the Hudson, Rhinebeck, 12:30 pm
Upstate Films is offering a free viewing of Taking Back the Hudson a film produced and directed by Marist students. From 111 Productions, director and Hudson Falls native Janielle Mahan and her team of Marist grads chronicle the plight of the towns of Hudson Falls and Ft. Edward ravaged by a war between PCB polluter GE and the EPA. Featured are young adult residents and their families, many of whom have been destroyed by cancer they attribute to PCB contamination. Find out why we need to keep the pressure on GE and the EPA and bring back the river as a resource we all can enjoy.
